 Jim Fowler will share information on how to participate and succeed i
 n VCC External Competitions. This workshop is designed for members ne
 w to VCC External Competitions, and members who have previously enter
 ed external competitions but feel they don’t get much from the 
 experience. Jim will address the following during this two-hour works
 hop:\n
 \n
  Guide VCC members around the VCC External Competition web pages\n
  Introduce members to the internal workings of the External Competiti
 on Committee\n
  How to plan for the competition season in advance,\n
  How to prepare for individual competitions with a special emphasis o
 n the CAPA Fine Art competition \n
  How to find VCC image rating guidelines and the difference between V
 CC rating and CAPA rating\n
  How to benefit from competitions - entering is just the start\n
 \n
 \n
 If you are new to competition, it would be useful, but not required, 
 to attend Sharon Moysey and Judy Plummer’s workshop on August 2
 5th. Some familiarity with the VCC web pages would be an asset.\n
 About Jim Fowler\n
 \n
 Jim, a lifelong photographer, joined VCC in 2016 and quickly became a
 ctive in a wide array of roles in the club. This high level of activi
 ty continues today. From writing for the CloseUp Magazine to deliveri
 ng workshops, Jim has demonstrated an ability to communicate what is 
 new and exciting. He is a regular contributor at the Creative and Nat
 ure SIGs and field trip galleries, and guest commentator on the Advan
 ced Image Review. He is chair of the External Competition Committee, 
 member of both CAPA and PSA, and has attended the CAPA Image Judging 
 workshop three times. Jim still gets excited when he talks about imag
 es.\n
