CAPA Digital Minimal Manipulation (Photojournalism with People)

This competition is designed in the spirit of an old slide competition. The purpose is to record a "document photograph" which is a truthful representation of reality, the focus being on photographic abilities with less of an emphasis on post processing.

This year’s minimal manipulation genre is Photojournalism With People which relies on an image that tell a story or documents people affected by an event. The image should clearly make a point or convey a message.  Good composition would greatly enhance the conveying of the story. For this competition, no ‘model release’ is required because the image will not be staged and will be taken in a public place.

Open Theme – Images of people in varying locations, incidents, occasions or situations. All individuals photographed should be treated with respect and dignity.  Special considerations should be given to vulnerable subjects and compassion to victims of crime or tragedy."

Editing criteria are yet to be determined.

The CAPA Digital Theme competition will be opened for submissions on September 7th, 2017 and will close on November 19th, 2017.
